Hardening Machines

The Hardening Machines division has been developing and producing induction hardening machines for a wide variety of components, which are used both by our customers around the world and in our business areas, since 1952. To date, a large number of hardening machines have been supplied and installed in numerous production lines for automotive, truck, bus and agricultural applications. Our customers appreciate our high level of competence and reliability. We offer the right hardening machines and hardening processes for a wide range of applications. We analyse customer requests and special requirements and implement them to ensure maximum satisfaction. Customised machine developments, laboratory tests and test hardening on our own laboratory machines are further components of our product portfolio.

We manufacture our 3D printing inductors using selective laser melting in our own 3D technology center in the hardening machines division. The implementation of 3D printing of inductors to serial production took place in our technology center.

Our new product, the vertical hardening machine VHM 1000, is a tailor-made solution for the powertrain product area, in particular the side shaft product (connecting element of the drive type to the wheel). In addition to classic total surface hardening, the implementation of progressive hardening can also be selected. The high strength of the system components, maximum speed and high availability are the benchmark. Within the machine, several work stations can be selected in parallel and independently via separate NC axes. Cycle times and cost budget can thus be optimally coordinated. The machine processes are programmed in the classic way using CNC programming with a touch panel. Samples, hardness tests and prototypes can be produced in our modern application laboratory for side shafts. KEY FACTS High rigidity and high dimensional accuracy Automatic service doors for separate loading, e.g. using robots The robust operating doors dip, so there is no dirt or water discharge in the operating area Variable component length up to 1 m, easy scaffolding Variable autonomous NC vertical axes can be executed within the machine without changing the machine width

The FLEX 1.5 machine design offers maximum flexibility for accommodating a wide variety of crankshaft types and variants, specially adapted to the needs of trucks, buses and agriculture. Cycle times and investment requirements can be optimally coordinated. The possibility of later adaptation to changed requirements increases flexibility significantly. We are the world market leader in this segment! KEY FACTS Used worldwide by all leading manufacturers of trucks, buses and agricultural machinery Loading via portal systems, robots or manually Integrated and highly flexible NC heavy-duty shuttle system Short changeover times with maximum user-friendliness Workpiece length up to 1.5 m and weight of 300 kg Cycle time > 60 s

Special measuring devices & Gaging Masters

Our core competency is the development and manufacture of special measuring devices for the following workpiece categories:

  • constant velocity joints

  • transmission parts

  • axel and steering parts

  • engine parts

  • wheels/rims

  • aluminum parts

Our product range starts with manual measuring stations and includes fully automated measuring machines. The integration of different sensors and components enables solutions for very complex measuring and inspection tasks. This is why we are experts when it comes to tactile, pneumatic and optical measuring systems as well as hardness, crack and surface testing. Weighing technology, labeling and sorting are also components of our comprehensive systems. Their robustness guarantees good functionality and measuring accuracy even in a harsh manufacturing environment. This enables our customers to very accurately assess their manufacturing process – even for critical components – and therefore obtain a high level of productivity. As an independent company, we use the best possible components. New tasks can be implemented quickly, cost-effectively and reliably by using tried and tested modules and components. The measurement of all the linear measures (height, thickness, groove and web width), form (concentricity, parallelism and angle) and position tolerances ( dimension between axes, drilling position and symmetry) are the central tasks of our measuring systems.

Feeding Systems

Structure of the bowl feeder

The structure of a bowl feeder is always characterized by two major components:

the sorting bowl, in which the parts are aligned

the drive, which generates vibrations in the sorting bowl by means of mechanical oscillations, thereby putting the parts in motion.

The dimension and design of both these components are determined by the parts to be fed.

Characteristics of Grimm bowl feeders

  • Structure made up of 2 components: Sorting bowl and bowl feeder drive RF

  • Diameter of top part from 70 mm to 1200 mm

  • Very good price/performance ratio

  • Three different sorting bowl designs: cylindrical, step-shaped or conical

  • "Heavy" parts can be easily sorted.

  • Rough environmental influences (such as oil or dirt) are not a problem

  • Pharmaceutical or clean room versions in VA (electrically polished) are realized.

Components and accessories
We offer the following accessory components, which are compatible with the Grimm bowl feeders:

  • For optimum feeding properties, it is necessary to coat the inside of the sorting bowl, depending on the condition of the parts. Habasit, PU or brush coating

  • Noise protection bowl feeder SM, available in 6 different sizes, 20 mm to 50 mm of sound-proofing material ensures optimal noise absorption.

  • Control unit FAR-1: 230 V/ 50 Hz, for linear and bowl feeders, phase-controllable

  • Control unit FAR-S-1: 230 V/ 50 Hz, for linear and bowl feeders, phase-controllable, with input for a signal for accumulation shut-down
